Safety Net for Basic
Human Needs
2007-08 Investment $475,707
When an emergency strikes, our neighbors in Kern County turn to a
network of nonprofit agencies for help in meeting their most basic needs
-- food, shelter, clothing, protection, and other emergency services.
For United Way of Kern County, the ability to reach out and help people
in crisis is one of our four priority Areas of Impact.
In the 2007-08 funding year, United Way has invested more than $475,000
in programs that provide a Safety Net for Basic Human Needs. Like all
United Way allocations decisions, these investment decisions are driven
by volunteers who review program proposals, budgets and goals.
