Kern county emergency food and shelter local board

The Kern County Emergency Food and Shelter Local Board is now accepting applications for federal funds to provide relief to Kern County residents in crisis. The program is funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency – FEMA.

A 12-member Local Board will distribute the money to qualified nonprofit organizations serving those who are hungry, homeless, or at risk for homelessness. EFSP provides one-time, emergency assistance with food, utilities, or rent/mortgage payments. It also supports local shelters. Nonprofit organizations that have previously received funding, as well as new agencies, may apply.

United Way is a national partner in EFSP, and United Way of Kern County is the administrative arm of the Local Board.
