  • Prescription discount cards available through United Way
    United Way of Kern County has partnered with nearly 100 pharmacies throughout Kern County to provide more than 20,000 free FamilyWize prescription drug discount cards to help people with no prescription coverage lower the cost of their medicine.
     
  • 2006 CHW grant and 2007 SPH grant award ceremonies!
    United Way of Kern County was awarded a CHW Community Grant for $10,800 to support the Kern County Homeless Collaborative’s January homeless census. The grant funds helped purchase incentive and comfort items to encourage homeless individuals to participate in the countywide count of the homeless.

  • United Way commits $300,000 to 2-1-1 information & referral development
    BAKERSFIELD, CA – United Way of Kern County has committed $300,000 over the next three years to help make information about social services more readily accessible to residents throughout Kern County.

     

  • United Way invests nearly $1.4 million to benefit Kern County residents
    July 14, 2006 – United Way of Kern County today announced it will invest $1,399,350 in health and human services programs throughout the county over the next 12 months. More than $907,000 of that will benefit 40 local programs delivered by UWKC’s funded partners, while another $492,000 will benefit 250 health and human services agencies as designated by United Way donors.
